Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci participated today via video conference in the General Assembly of SIGN e.V. (Scienziati Italiani in Germania Network) and has been appointed as the association’s Honorary President. In his address, Ambassador Bucci highlighted the exceptional importance of collaboration between Italy and Germany in cutting-edge technological innovation and scientific research. He also emphasized the key role played by Italian scientists and researchers in Germany, who are actively contributing to leading universities, research institutes, and the private sector, shaping and advancing pioneering scientific and technological projects. “We are honored to welcome Ambassador Bucci as the Honorary President of our association. His appointment further strengthens our commitment to fostering scientific cooperation between Italy and Germany, supporting Italian researchers in Germany and vice versa,” stated Prof. Gianaurelio Cuniberti, President of SIGN. Founded in October 2022, SIGN e.V. aims to enhance networking and cooperation between Italian researchers and German institutions. The association promotes joint scientific projects and supports the professional development of the Italian-German academic and industrial research community. Italy represents the second-largest international scientific community in German universities, with 4,439 Italian researchers, including 340 university professors. Moreover, Italians form the third-largest national group within Germany’s major research institutions (Max Planck Society, Helmholtz Association, Fraunhofer Society, Leibniz Association), with 1,385 researchers. In total, approximately 5,800 Italian scientists are engaged in academic and non-academic research across Germany.
