Researchers in Germany and Italy can now apply for the German–Italian Cooperation program, jointly organized by our partner Villa Vigoni and the German Research Foundation (DFG). The program supports meetings in the humanities and social sciences at Villa Vigoni in 2028. Its aim is to spark intensive discussion rather than follow a conventional conference format: small groups, with up to 22 participants recommended, come together to explore current questions from German and Italian perspectives and strengthen research ties between the two countries in a broader European context. Recent meetings supported through the program show just how broad the scope can be, ranging from the history of modern taxation and digital approaches to letters and marginalized voices to legal theory, cultural studies, and Kantian philosophy. The call closely reflects SIGN’s commitment to strengthening scientific exchange between Italy and Germany, with particular attention to early-career researchers. Villa Vigoni, a SIGN institutional partner and the German–Italian Center for European Dialogue, provides a particularly fitting setting: for decades, it has brought researchers and other actors from both countries together to discuss shared scientific, cultural, and societal questions from a European perspective.
