We are proud to announce that Prof. Dr. Marco Salvalaglio, member of the SIGN Network and professor in Computational Materials and Solid-State Modelling at TU Dresden, has been awarded the prestigious Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize 2025 by the DFG and BMBF. The prize honors his pioneering contributions to the understanding and simulation of materials across scales, from atoms to macroscopic structures. His research focuses on how the geometric arrangement of atoms and molecules affects material behavior, with particular emphasis on the elastic and plastic response of metals. Salvalaglio develops and applies scale-bridging methods based on amplitude equations, enabling highly efficient and accurate simulations of crystalline materials.
