Sandro Mario Moraldo, born in 1959 in Bordighera, Italy, and raised in Heidelberg, Germany, is a distinguished scholar in German literature, language, and culture. He pursued his studies in Comparative Literature, German Philology, and Romance Languages at the Universities of Heidelberg, Florence, and the University of California, Berkeley, earning both his M.A. and Ph.D. from Heidelberg University. His academic career commenced with teaching positions at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan and the University of Venice. In 2000, he joined the University of Bologna, where he is a pivotal figure in the Department of Interpreting and Translation. His research encompasses German linguistics, contemporary migrant literature, and the works of E.T.A. Hoffmann. Beyond academia, Prof. Moraldo has been instrumental in fostering German-Italian cultural exchange, co-founding the Italian HAI Club and presiding over the "Alumni DAAD Italien" association. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2022.
