Maria Chiara Carrozza is an Italian scientist, engineer, and academic leader with a distinguished career in research, innovation, and public service. She specializes in bioengineering and robotics, contributing significantly to the development of advanced prosthetics and assistive technologies. She served as the Rector of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, where she played a key role in promoting interdisciplinary research and innovation. From 2013 to 2014, she was Minister of Education, University, and Research in the Italian government, shaping national policies to support scientific advancement and higher education. Currently, she is the President of the National Research Council (CNR), leading Italy’s largest public research institution. Her leadership continues to drive technological and scientific progress, strengthening the connection between research, industry, and policy to position Italy at the forefront of global innovation.
