Fabio Pammolli, born in Lucca, Italy, is a distinguished economist and professor specializing in finance and data science. He earned his degree in economics from the University of Pisa and completed his doctoral studies at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies. Pammolli began his academic career at the University of Siena in 1990, progressing from assistant to associate professor, and later served as a full professor at the University of Florence. In 2004, he became the founding rector of the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, where he also taught economics, finance, and data science. His research integrates methods from statistical physics and economics, focusing on growth, diversification, and instability in firms and financial systems. Beyond academia, Pammolli has held significant roles, including membership in the Investment Committee of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (2015-2020), chairperson of the InvestEU Investment Committee since 2021, and economic advisor to the Italian Minister of Economy and Finance since 2022. In May 2024, he was appointed president of the Italian Institute of Artificial Intelligence for Industry (AI4I).
