Dr. Claudia Gerri is a developmental biologist renowned for her research on mammalian embryology and placental development. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Milan in 2010, followed by a Master's in Molecular Biology of the Cell from the same institution and the University of Brescia in 2012. Dr. Gerri completed her Ph.D. in Developmental Genetics at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research and Goethe University Frankfurt in 2017. She then pursued postdoctoral research at The Francis Crick Institute in London, focusing on comparative embryology of early cell fate decisions across species. In 2022, Dr. Gerri established her research group at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden. Her lab investigates how the uterine microenvironment influences the fetal-placental interface in various mammals, aiming to understand the emergence of complex structures that fulfill similar functions. Beyond her scientific endeavors, Dr. Gerri enjoys nature photography, reading, and attending musicals and operas. She also values hosting dinner gatherings with family and friends.
