Caterina Cocchi is an Italian physicist specializing in theoretical solid-state physics. Born in Modena, she studied at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, earning her Ph.D. in 2012 on graphene nanostructures. In 2013, she moved to Germany as a postdoctoral researcher at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, focusing on light-matter interactions in organic semiconductors. In 2017, she became Junior Professor for Theoretical Physics, and in 2020, she was appointed Full Professor at the University of Oldenburg. Her research explores excitations in low-dimensional materials for optoelectronic applications. She actively promotes gender equality in science, mentoring young researchers and supporting Women in Natural Sciences initiatives. Through her work, Cocchi advances the understanding of quantum materials, bridging fundamental research with technological applications, while fostering diversity in the scientific community.
