Dr. Maria Benedetta Casu is a physicist and chemist specializing in organic materials for electronics. She graduated in Physics from the University of Cagliari, Italy, in 1994, and worked there until 1998. In 1999, she moved to Germany and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Potsdam, focusing on the electronic structure of heterocyclic organic semiconductors. From 2002 to 2006, Dr. Casu was a researcher at the Institute of Physics, University of Würzburg. She then joined the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Tübingen as a senior scientist from 2006 to 2011. In 2010, she achieved her habilitation with a thesis on the growth of organic materials, earning the title of Privatdozentin with "venia legendi" in Physical Chemistry. Since May 2011, Dr. Casu has led the Organic Spins Group at the University of Tübingen, focusing on the investigation of organic radicals and their interfaces with magnetic inorganic materials. Her research aims to develop flexible, lightweight, and transparent magnets, opening new avenues for advanced applications. Dr. Casu's work has been recognized for its potential to revolutionize the field of organic electronics and materials science.
